No more coups, please

Letter January 12, 2012
The very least, the Supreme Court should now summon the head of the army to explain January 11’s statement.

LAHORE: This is with reference to your editorial of January 12, titled “No more coups, please”. I would like to inquire as to how the military could issue a statement through ISPR, as it did on January 11, wherein it said that the prime minister’s remarks contained in an interview he gave to a Chinese online newspaper could have “serious ramifications for the country”.

I agree that the prime minister could have acted more wisely by not accusing the army chief and the DG ISI of having acted in an unconstitutional manner but, at the very least, the Supreme Court should now summon the head of the army to explain January 11’s statement.
