Desperate times

Letter January 09, 2012
I suggest that the government should announce either a longer winter vacation annually, or change school timings.

ISLAMABAD: Desperate times call for desperate measures. We are facing a brutal winter this year, in the federal capital as well as much of northern Pakistan, and it has been made worse by a gas and electricity crisis. There seems to be no solution to this in the near future. School children are bearing the brunt of the sub-zero temperatures and given that gas is in short supply, there is no heating at home or in schools.

I suggest that the government should announce either a longer winter vacation annually, or change school timings for all private and government schools, so that at least children, who are always more vulnerable in such situations, are better protected.
