Thank you, ET and AKUH

Letter January 08, 2012
Thank you, for printing my letter and for giving me the feeling of vindication.

KARACHI: This is further to my letter which was published on these pages on January 1 titled “A most belligerent doctor”.

I wanted to let your readers and all those who commented on your website after it was posted online that the doctor in question, Dr Azam Ali rang up my mother and apologised for what had happened and how he had behaved when we visited his clinic. We also received a phone call from the Aga Khan University Hospital administration asking us if we were satisfied with the way the complaint had been handled. They also mentioned the letter that had appeared in this newspaper and the comments posted on Express Tribune’s website. Though the name of the doctor and the name of the hospital were initially excised from the letter, they were mentioned in the comments that were posted on the letter after it appeared online.

So, there is justice in this country of ours and very honestly, I expected none. It was a pleasant surprise.

Thank you, for printing my letter and for giving me the feeling of vindication.

And thank you AKUH for actually looking into my complaint and responding to it in a timely and very satisfactory manner. And last of all, I would like to thank all those who commented on this letter of mine, which, I feel, is what prompted the people in charge to take notice and make sure that the doctor in question is held accountable for his actions.
