There seems to be a flaw with the writer’s argument.
OAKVILLE, ON, CANADA: This is with reference to Imtiaz Gul’s article of January 5 titled “The Great Game revisited”. There seems to be a flaw with the writer’s argument because he ignores the need for the Americans to have access to a port. That will not be possible if they confine themselves to the Central Asian states of Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan.
Which seaport will the Americans use to transport goods to Central Asia en route to Afghanistan? Are they going to be in Pakistan, Iran, China, Georgia or Russia? Although Central Asia is close to Afghanistan, the closest large water body is the Caspian Sea but it is not an open sea. In any case, none of these possibilities fits the overall scheme suggested in the article.
