No tantrum, sir

Letter January 04, 2012
Asma Jahangir’s reaction to the way her client had been treated in the ongoing case was anything but a tantrum.

KARACHI: With due respect to Feisal H Naqvi, in his article of January 4 titled “An unbecoming tantrum”, Asma Jahangir’s reaction to the way her client had been treated in the ongoing case was anything but a tantrum. She said what she had to say, with restraint, and then did the right and honourable thing by saying that she could no longer represent her client because she had no faith in the judicial process through which his case was being heard.

As a lawyer, she has to, to the best of her ability, defend her client — and that is precisely what she was doing.
