MONTREAL: Feryal Ali Gauhar’s article of December 29 titled “Kitchen Cabinet” was excellent. The sad reality is that without charismatic leadership and a strong manifesto that motivates the masses, political parties need support from those who are landed or have some kind of legacy. Most of the politicians who are now joining the PTI are tainted but their support is still needed by the party if it is to win seats in the next election.
With people who are new and have no connection to a well-known family, clan or tribe, or have no wealth (because money is required to fight an election) the party will have little or no chance of winning.
