Government's decision to ascertain the truth for the judicial murder of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto must be appreciated.
LAHORE: For a government tainted with allegations of corruption and poor governance, its decision to ascertain the truth for the judicial murder of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto must be appreciated. However, while we are on the subject of trying to find out the truth with respect to our history, why not also set up commissions to investigate what happened in Ayub Khan’s time when Mohtarma Fatima Jinnah tried to stand for election. Also, the mysterious circumstances surrounding her death should also be investigated. Had that election not been rigged and had Ms Jinnah won in a free and fair election, as she did in former East Pakistan, the events that occurred in 1971 may never have taken place and we could have been spared the imposition of martial laws by Generals Yahya Khan, Ziaul Haq and Pervez Musharraf.
