Public funds for laptops

Letter December 22, 2011
My question to the Punjab chief minister is that why should taxpayers pay for laptops to be given to students?

ISLAMABAD: Millions, if not billions of rupees will be spent by the Punjab government to provide laptops to all students who do well in board exams. My question to the Punjab chief minister is that why should taxpayers pay for laptops to be given to students? Why cannot the schools, where these children study, be asked to set aside some funds for these computers? After all, not all of them are state-owned, many are in the private sector and must make a tidy profit. I don’t at all approve of my hard-earned income being used for such a purpose.
