Khadim-e-Punjab adverts

Letter December 21, 2011
There is no title of Khadim-e-Punjab in Constitution of Pakistan or official/legal language of the province of Punjab.

LAHORE: Over the years the Government of Punjab has been releasing and paying for massive advertisements in media, political banners and other projects like the public utility buses in the name of ‘Khadim-e-Punjab’ Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif. As far as I know, there is no title, designation, appointment or official position of ‘Khadim-e-Punjab’ in the Constitution of Pakistan or official/legal language of the province of Punjab.

Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif is the chief minister of Punjab and, in that capacity he is entitled to the publicity matters at the cost of the exchequer but no one as Khadim-e-Punjab has that privilege. I do not know how the Punjab government’s auditors have been overlooking the authorising of such payments. Why won’t our superior courts look into this issue since clearly it seems to be related to an abused and misuse of one’s position and authority?
