TORONTO: This refers to your editorial “Grounded”, published on December 20. PIA is a national flag carrier and used to be an excellent airline. However, that has now all changed. The primary reason for this is because successive governments in the past used it as a means to provide employment to their political supporters. What it now needs is aviation-related professionals and experts running it, not political appointees. Unless that is done, there is little hope for the airline turning itself around and improving its financial condition.
