NEW ORLEANS, US: This is with reference to Kamran Shafi’s article of December 16 titled “Open letter to My Lord the Chief Justice”.
I have great respect for the writer and share his rightful distaste for unholy interference by the military establishment in the smooth flow of the democratic process.
That said, I fail to understand why he felt the need to write his passionate open letter to the Chief Justice. Has he lost faith in the CJ for whom he, along with his family, made personal sacrifices over a long period of time? The writer has failed to notice the immense limitations which this apex court has been confronted with in its tenure.
First, it had to face the wrath of a military dictator and then had to deal with an equally worse civilian setup. I believe we must have full faith in our superior judiciary and wait for adjudication instead of expressing the type of panic and misgivings the writer has displayed.
