KARACHI: We have heard that the purpose of receiving education is to have a stable future. But what if a country like Pakistan, where the youth does, in fact, have the necessary academic qualification, still doesn’t have jobs for qualified people.
The cream of youth go abroad to pursue higher education due to a lack of employment opportunities at home. The employment sector in Pakistan is declining day by day. Employment opportunities are available to only those who have references or sources. The criteria for merit has just become a formality.
An unemployed person is one who is able and willing to work but does not have the opportunity. Presently, the unemployment ratio in Pakistan is more than 12 per cent. There needs to an urgent revamping of economic policy to cater to home-grown issues. Otherwise, our nation and future generations will only drown deeper in the downward spiral of domestic problems.
