If we want democracy in Pakistan we as individuals should play by the rules too.
ASHGABAT, TURKMENISTAN: This is with reference to your coverage of the current health status of the President of Pakistan, Asif Ali Zardari.
If we want democracy in Pakistan we as individuals should play by the rules too. Even though the economic management and day-to-day administration may have been better under president Pervez Musharraf, the people of Pakistan voted in favour of the ruling party. It in turn managed to form the government. Furthermore, the members of the National Assembly and the four provincial assemblies voted for Mr Zardari as President. So the civilised and democratic thing to do would be to let the current government complete its tenure and wait for the next election. That way, people can express their opinion on its performance, or lack thereof, through the ballot box. Let’s not try and pander the anti-democratic forces in the country. The answer to a government that does not govern well is certainly not a military coup or even a manipulated change.
I should say that I am not a supporter of the current president but I will admit that he has done well in his post given the threats he and his government had to face since 2008.
