ISLAMABAD: The writer should not get disappointed if a book that he edited six years ago has had no impact on our social fabric because as he himself has pointed out, serious pursuit of knowledge of the social sciences is not embedded in our academic culture.
In fact, I would say that six years is nothing. I can give examples of books written 50 or 60 years ago and they have had no impact on our social thinking. If the crux of any knowledge is exactitude, then we do not possess much of it, because definitive knowledge is difficult to come by in this country.
