LONDON: This is with reference to Kamran Shafi’s article of November 25 titled “The smell test — II”. The ISI is judge, jury and executioner. If anyone disagrees with its world view, then he or she is a traitor.
We should consider that, according to WikiLeaks, the military asked the Americans to carry out additional drone strikes. Also, it was on their watch that Pakistan’s sovereignty was violated by American helicopters and its soldiers carried out a raid deep inside Pakistan. No heads rolled when that happened. But in the case of this memo, even though Husain Haqqani totally denied involvement in it, he was forced to leave his post. Also, someone in parliament should raise the matter of why the director-general of the ISI travelled to a foreign country and met a US citizen of dubious character without organisation. The latter then, according to various reports of the said meeting, slandered a senior state functionary of the same government for whom the intelligence chief works.
