DUBAI: This is with reference to your editorial of November 23 titled “Memogate claims its first victim”. The resignation of Mr Husain Haqqani is clearly Pakistan’s loss. His performance as ambassador has been exceptional under extremely difficult circumstances both abroad and at home. And by coming to Pakistan, offering his resignation and putting himself for investigation he has shown his patriotism and integrity. Perhaps we should ask just how many people in positions of authority, politicians as well as generals, have offered to do this, after they committed blunders.
Shame on our media and establishment for running a media trial — your newspaper was the only exception.
