Some questions for Imran Khan

Letter November 20, 2011
What is his public stand on civil-military relations?

ISLAMABAD: I would like to ask the PTI chief Imran Khan the following questions.

What is his public stand on civil-military relations? To say that weak political leadership invites military intervention is neither here nor there. If a certain elected government is weak, does that justify abrogation of the Constitution and a military takeover of the country, which is a clear violation of Article 6 of the Constitution? Is he prepared to condemn military rule in clear unambiguous terms? Can he also clarify his position on the issue of extremism? How does he rationalise dialogue with extremists if they do not accept the Constitution of Pakistan? And does he consider extremists as friends or enemies of the country? If he believes that Asif Zardari and Nawaz Sharif are equally corrupt why doesn’t he knock on the doors of the judiciary? If he wants real change through the ballot box how can he achieve this objective without keeping the security agencies at bay, especially with the public perception that he has links to the establishment?

I believe that a clear answer to the above questions will help Imran Khan to dispel public misgivings about his movement.
