What kind of change? (II)

Letter November 15, 2011
Imran Khan may not have an obvious team, but neither did Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.

MINNEASPOLIS, MN, US: I agree with Dr Tariq Rahman in that Imran Khan may not have an obvious plan to root out corruption and may not be able to achieve all of his promises. However, let’s not forget that the other two options are the PPP and the PML-N. Both are pro-status quo and neither has the vision or the capability to move Pakistan towards the right direction. Also, Imran Khan may not have an obvious team, but neither did Zulfikar Ali Bhutto. No one had heard of Dr Mubashir Hasan or J Rahim back then when the PPP began. People like Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Masood Sharif Khattak are joining the PTI and that is a good sign for the party.

No one is saying that the PTI will transform Pakistan into a Malaysia overnight, but at the very least it could provide a first step towards that. We may have missed the train, let’s not also miss the last bus.
