Politicians are, by law, required to declare their assets to the Election Commission before contesting in a poll.
SAN DIEGO, CA, US: This is with reference to Kamran Shafi’s article of November 11 titled “Don’t knock politics”. Politicians are, by law, required to declare their assets to the Election Commission before contesting in a poll. In that context, what Imran Khan is saying is understandable. As far as judges and generals are concerned, there is no law in place which compels them to do the same. Of course, there would be no harm if the PTI chief were to ask the same of the country’s judges, generals, judges and bureaucrats. For that, a law would have to be eventually enacted by parliament and perhaps Mr Shafi should demand that in his future columns.
