Intolerance breeds violence

Letter November 10, 2011
The people of Sindh demand justice so that families of minority communities do not live in fear and insecurity.

ISLAMABAD: The entire province of Sindh is in mourning for the brutal murders of a renowned doctor and two businessmen of the Hindu community in Shikarpur district on Eid day.

Various communities in Sindh have strongly condemned the incident and have demanded the arrest of the main culprits, threatening to hold nationwide strikes in the province. The people of Sindh have declared that such an act is an attack against the secular and multicultural fabric of society. Influenced by the golden words of Martin Luther King who once said, “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere” and strongly believing in the famous words of Napolean, “The world suffers a lot, not because of the violence of bad people but because of the silence of good people”, the people of Sindh demand justice so that families of minority communities do not live in fear and insecurity.

If the present government is serious about protecting its Hindu community, then it must do some retrospection to prevent such brutal acts.
