Weimar Republic v Pakistan

Letter November 09, 2011
Putting hopes in empty slogans that cannot be achieved can lead to dangerous results.

GERMANY: This is with reference to Ayesha Siddiqa’s article titled “Transition without transformation” (November 6). The writer’s views about Weimar Republic are accurate. Putting hopes in empty slogans that cannot be achieved can lead to dangerous results. The current government in Pakistan is weak and short on delivery, but it was elected by the people. Imran Khan has the right to convince people to topple the ruling party at the next elections in 2014; but claiming to solve problems such as corruption in 100 days is a target of dream fabric. Some might call it fooling people.
