Lessons for mainstream parties

Letter November 02, 2011
The fact is that the supporters of the PTI are as intolerant and aggressive as the supporters of other parties.

LONDON: This is with reference to Professor Ijaz Khan’s article of November 2 titled “Lessons for mainstream parties”.

The PTI is a political party and is playing the game well. There is no denying that its support base has widened, and this was seen at its successful rally, held on October 30. However, its silence on the military and its policies, on its commercial activities, and on railing against corruption that relates to politicians reeks of opportunism. The fact is that the supporters of the PTI are as intolerant and aggressive as the supporters of other parties. In any case, what is stopping the PTI from declaring their assets, or will the party demand this only of its opponents?
