Ambassador Hussain Haqqani does not hold citizenship of any country other than his own.
WASHINGTON DC: This is with reference to Naeem Sadiq’s article of October 30 titled “The right to know”. A reference seems to have been made to Pakistan’s current ambassador to the United States — that he is a citizen of the country he serves in.
This is incorrect. Ambassador Hussain Haqqani does not hold citizenship of any country other than his own. For the record, the embassy would also like to point out that recently a similar claim was made in a Lahore-based newspaper, following which the ambassador served a legal notice on it, and the paper had to apologise.
