LAHORE: This is with reference to M Naim-Ur-Rahman’s article of October 29 titled “What our lawyers need to do”.
Lawyers have a special place in societies that claim, like Pakistan does, the establishment of order through the rule of law. Choosing this profession therefore requires from its practitioners the most rigorous adherence to the laws of the land and its practice in their personal lives. Bar associations, in particular, carry a special responsibility and this means that their members demonstrate high ethical standards and the associations take to task any member who acts in a manner unbecoming of an ethical lawyer.
