Pakistan’s regional standing (II)

Letter October 30, 2011
I hope the country’s economic managers have a fair idea of what the writer is talking about.

UPPER MARLBORO, MD, US: I hope the country’s economic managers have a fair idea of what the writer is talking about because if nothing is done then the gap will only widen. Consider this: if Pakistan grows at the current average growth rate of three per cent for the next 30 years, its GDP per capita will be around $2,000. And if India continues to grow at eight per cent for the next 30 years, its GDP per capita will be eventually be around $15,000.

That is why it is going to become very hard to convince the Kashmiris to side with us if a situation ever, if at all, arises and they have to choose sides.
