The wrath of Khan

Letter October 23, 2011

CHANTILLY, VA, US: This is with reference to Nadir Hassan’s article of October 22 titled “The wrath of Khan”.

I was with Imran Khan in university together and although I didn’t know him that well I did think he was arrogant. So it’s difficult for me to see him as a man of the people, unless he has drastically changed.

As for Pakistan, it is not some experiment where everyone should be “given a chance” to govern it. We have been giving chances to just about everyone for more than six decades. Time is running out. We need to get things done.

All said and done, Khan, or anyone else for that matter, should be free to contest the next election. With his pro-Taliban leanings (a bit of a cruel joke considering the life he has led) and Deep State connections, he may or may not win. If he does, fine. Let him eliminate corruption in the first 100 days and, given his rabid anti-West posture (which I think is faked), let him tax the rich and rid us of the meddlesome IMF and the other multilaterals.

Come to think of it, I can hardly wait.
