Letter October 22, 2011
Ram Pyari was third wife of Sundar Das Chopra, contractor of Dinga town, near Gujrat in present-day Pakistani Punjab.

LOS ANGELES: This is with reference to Amber Darr’s article of October 22 titled “The road less travelled — V”. She wrote about Ram Pyari and here is some information about her: Ram Pyari was the third wife of Sundar Das Chopra, a contractor of Dinga town, near Gujrat in present-day Pakistani Punjab. He constructed the building that the writer referred to in her article in the second decade of the 20th century.

The road that passes by the building was previously known as Ram Pyari Road, but later it was renamed as Circular Road and now it passes by Sohni Bazaar which is known for its pottery and ceramics shops and is inside the walled part of the town. Ram Pyari’s family migrated to India during the riots that accompanied Partition in 1947.
