Tribal justice is required in the Kinnaird student murder case.
ISLAMABAD: This is with reference to your editorial “Violent means” (October 19) on the tragic killing of a student of Kinnaird College by a young man, ostensibly because his proposal for marriage to her had been rejected.
Tribal justice is required in this case because of the immense pain that the girl’s family must be experiencing. The judicial system, will tell the family that since the culprit is dead, there is no reason for any case and that the matter is closed.
However, in the case of tribal justice, even if the murderer is dead, his family has to pay for the sins committed by him when he was alive. This is the only way that the girl’s family will feel that justice has been served. Furthermore, this will also be a lesson to those men who dishonour and kill girls in public with impunity.
