I cannot fault the University of Karachi’s Syndicate for approving a doctorate for our worthy interior minister.
KARACHI: Reading a heavy, and seemingly inconclusive, medical research article that made little sense to me, as a clinician I asked a younger colleague what the purpose of reading such material in real life was. His answer was relevant. Such material, he said, provided newer avenues of knowledge, research, study and professional development for those interested in acquisition of such knowledge.
In the light of that sage advice I therefore cannot fault the University of Karachi’s Syndicate for approving a doctorate for our worthy interior minister and I cannot understand the objections of several hundred teachers of the university who have objected to the decision.
This PhD, awarded presumably in a subject in the faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, will inspire generations of students, present and future leaders and lesser mortals like myself to greater heights of research.
