A fundamental change in the Pakistani military’s India mindset can change the prevailing equations in the region.
NEW DELHI: Muhammad Azam Khan’s article titled “Understanding India’s ‘cold start’ doctrine” (October 19) is most probably nothing other than India’s answer to the use of ‘strategic assets’ by Pakistan. If the latter were to control its so-called ‘non-state actors’ and stop treating them as strategic assets, then this Indian ‘cold start’ doctrine will simply wither away. Nothing except a fundamental change in the Pakistani military’s India mindset can change the prevailing equations in the subcontinent. Till then, the war doctrines will be sketched on the drawing boards, practiced in war games and God forbid even implemented in the future.
