No to confrontation

Letter October 13, 2011
PML-N chief should understand that asking public to rise up against government, his party may play into hidden hands.

LAHORE: I would like to ask Mian Nawaz Sharif why his party is indulging in the politics of confrontation? Why is he bent on repeating history and the same mistakes that he made in the past? Instead of listening to the hawks in his party, he should realise that at this point in time, democracy needs to be strengthened, even if that means letting a government widely deemed as corrupt to remain in office. The PML-N chief should also understand that by asking for the public to rise up against the government, his party may be playing into certain hidden hands, and this may pave the way for yet another military takeover. And as our history will tell us, this country does not need any more military interventions.

As for the allegation of the party that the president and prime minister have appointed their favourities as heads of various public sector bodies, the same can also be said for the Punjab government.
