The world has no appetite to see yet another brutal Taliban rule in Kabul.
NEW DELHI: The air marshal has penned an unconvincing article. He has highlighted the fact that the war in Afghanistan has brought America’s economy to its knees. However, in the same breath he is also saying that the Americans want to create chaos in Afghanistan so that they can intervene there in future, if need be.
But logic would suggest that if the Americans are in such dire economic straits then they would rather that there be peace in Afghanistan. Pakistan should wake up and understand that even if the Americans leave in 2014, there will surely be permanent American-led NATO bases in Afghanistan. The world has no appetite to see yet another brutal Taliban rule in Kabul.
