ISLAMABAD: This is in reference to Jahanzaib Haque’s article of September 20 titled “Big Brother wants access to your Gmail account”. I agree completely with the writer and would like to thank him for raising this issue. What the government intends on doing seems to be an outdated and old-fashioned approach which doesn’t and won’t work in today’s world. We are in the 21st century and measures such as those that the government wants to bring in to monitor the internet will take us back to the Stone Age.
Instead, we need to tackle terrorism at its roots. Also, the government should improve the training and intelligence-gathering capabilities of the police and other law-enforcement agencies tasked with fighting the terrorists.
