Attack on Chaudhry Aslam’s home

Letter September 20, 2011
TTP will go on blowing up people, houses and schools until it achieves its aim of getting control of the country.

KARACHI: This is with reference to your detailed coverage of the suicide attack on police official Chaudhry Aslam’s home in Karachi’s Defence Housing Authority and your story of September 20 titled “Battleground shifts from headquarters to home”.

Just last week I told my friend in the US that I live in the most peaceful locality of Karachi, i.e. Phase VIII of DHA, since no terrorist activity had ever taken place there.

I was proved wrong by the carnage of September 19 which destroyed many houses and killed eight innocent people. In the days ahead many of our so-called experts will no doubt blame the US/Israel/India nexus for this bomb blast as well. So many times we’ve heard that the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) is a fictitious organisation, and if there is one, it’s been created by the American/Israeli/Indian lobby. Even those people whom I interact with daily and who are quite well educated are convinced that the Taliban could not be behind these attacks because Muslims cannot be kill other Muslims.

What the events of recent years should tell us is that we can no longer continue to behave like ostriches. The TTP is a (a hundred per cent Muslim entity) and will not be satisfied even if the US were to leave Afghanistan today. It will go on blowing up people, houses, shops and schools until it achieves its aim of getting control of the country and imposing its own version of Islam upon us hapless people.
