LAHORE: This is with reference to Khaled Ahmed’s article of September 18 titled “Muslim first or Pakistani first”.
For me, it’s quite simple and clear. I am a Muslim, then comes any other thing. Whatever be the role I have to play in this life, at the core I am a Muslim, and all my activities revolve around the teachings and preaching of my religion. A point to note is that I am a Muslim by choice. My identity lies with my religion and I am proud of it.
At the same time, I believe in peace and in the principle of live and let live. If we follow our religion’s teachings which preach goodness, then there is no reason why we would feel ashamed of calling ourselves devout followers of our faith.
