Heads should roll because of the embarrassment caused to Pakistan’s name.
KARACHI: The shutdown of the Pakistan pavilion by organisers at an arms expo in the UK is baffling, to say the least. Someone on behalf of the state-owned Pakistan Ordinance Factories enters into an agreement with the expo’s management with explicit terms and conditions. Then promptly goes to breach those terms and ends up getting kicked out of the expo. Is this a case of bureaucratic inefficiency which, looking at the way state-run institutions are usually run, is quite understandable? Or, is it a case of someone knowingly trying to breach the host government’s laws on arms and munitions?
If we have a democratic and representative government, accountable to the people, at the very least, it should determine who exactly is behind this fiasco. And once that is done, the heads should roll because of the embarrassment caused to Pakistan’s name.
