Nurturing militant outfits (II)

Letter September 10, 2011
The relatively small number of attacks in India suggests a much lower level of sophistication compared to Pakistan.

KARACHI: Avirook Sen’s article on the New Delhi blast is very rational, not least because it does not point fingers at Pakistan or any other foreign hand and informs readers that there is a strong likelihood that the attackers could be from within India. At the very least, he has spoken of the need for a proper investigation into the incident before apportioning blame. I should say that the situation in India, to some extent, is far better than that in Pakistan because for a country as big as India, there have been less than a dozen bomb blasts, whereas in Pakistan they seem to happen every day.

This suggests good police and intelligence work and also that the government has control over the sale of explosive material, which in Pakistan seem readily available to just about anybody. The relatively small number of attacks in India suggests a much lower level of sophistication compared to Pakistan. At least in this field we in Pakistan are more than self-sufficient and we don’t need any help or aid from the outside world.
