Two-nation theory or TNT? (II)

Letter September 08, 2011
The fact of the matter is that the two-nation theory was based on secularism for the majority-Muslim areas of India.

KEARNY, NJ, US: Quite ironically, only those people advocate the two-nation theory these days who fiercely rejected this ideology before 1947. They became its champions after it failed with the creation of Bangladesh. The fact of the matter is that the two-nation theory was based on secularism for the majority-Muslim areas of united India and not what today’s clerics and fundamentalists are preaching. Someone should ask the clerics that how could their predecessors fiercely resist the creation of Pakistan if it was to be based on the practice of Islamic jurisprudence.
