SAUDI ARABIA: Though I enjoyed Mr Mirza’s explosive televised press conference, I also feared undue reaction from his opponents, especially on the auspicious occasion of Eid. We should appreciate the PPPs reaction in distancing itself from Mr Mirza and also the MQM, which has issued a statement condemning what he said and refuting all his allegations. Of course, the remarks have given rise to all natures of conspiracy theories, most of them centering around his motives and the timing of his remarks.
The documentary proofs which he claims to posses should be scrutinised for their authenticity. Of course, the city is awash with weapons and most political parties have armed wings, torture cells are present and extortion is a city-wide business. What the city needs is an impartial administrator to save it from further destruction.
