KARACHI: Murtaza Chinoy’s daylight killing is most tragic. He was a friend of mine, and was my age. He was well educated and had good qualifications from the UK. He was handling a case for someone whose daughter was in an abusive marriage. She had fled her husband’s home and was forced to return by her own family. And a case had been lodged with the police on this. The lawyer was handling the case as a favour to one of his colleagues. It could well be that he was punished for this. All he was doing was helping someone in need of legal aid.
