Political dance of death (II)

Letter August 25, 2011
If the army comes in aid of the civil administration it will not achieve much.

SAN DIEGO, CA, US: I completely agree with Ejaz Haider’s analysis of Karachi’s situation. This is a political issue and must be solved politically. If the army comes in aid of the civil administration it will not achieve much. As someone born and raised in the city, I would suggest that governor rule should be imposed after changing the incumbent and bringing in someone like Justice Fakhruddin Ebrahim or Asma Jahangir. Then all Grade 18 and above police officers should be removed since all of them are political appointees and part of the problem and new police officials should be brought in and given a free hand. Also, Rehman Malik and Zulfikar Mirza should both be asked to stay away.
