In no country are provinces or states made on ethnic or racial lines.
SIALKOT: This is with reference to Zahid F Ebrahim’s article of August 17 titled “New provinces will break Pakistan”. In no country are provinces or states made on ethnic or racial lines. We lost East Pakistan because of ethnicity and we will lose the rest of Pakistan if we make further provinces based on ethnic or racial lines. If this trend continues, there will soon be no Pakistan.
However, if we demarcate provinces on an administrative basis then it’s a different story. There are no ethnic divisions in the US, where they have many states. India also faces the problems mentioned by the writer in those states which have been shaped on ethnic lines.
Repeating the same experiments while expecting to get different results is foolishness. Yahya Khan told the nation and the western media that he was in control of the situation following which Pakistan fell apart in the war of 1971. Former president Pervez Musharraf used a similar tone for Balochistan and the situation is in front of us.
