Nobody can condone any atrocities committed in any conflict.
LOMA LINDA, CA, US: This is with reference to Yaqoob Khan Bangash’s article of August 9 titled “Remembering East Pakistan – II”.
Nobody can condone any atrocities committed in any conflict. The writer, however, should also read a book by Sharmila Bose which contains interviews of the victims and aggressors. Considering Bengalis as Hindus or enemies might have been one mindset among some of the soldiers from West Pakistan but if one goes by Bose’s book, it will come across quite clearly that the Mukti Bahni was indeed involved in many heinous crimes as well. Also, interviews of the West Pakistan soldiers suggest that in many instances they were responding to attackes on West Pakistanis by what they saw as armed insurgents.
Again, in a bloody civil war, nobody is 100 per cent right.
