Beyond the byline

Letter August 07, 2011
I find the writer’s aspersions very worrying as I too am a contributor to the English language press.

LAHORE: This is with reference to George Fulton’s article of August 4 titled “Beyond the byline”.  As someone who has written op-eds for a number of years, I find the writer’s aspersions very worrying as I too am a contributor to the English language press. Does he have any proof of what he claims? I mean, it’s fairly convenient to make generalisations and cast aspersions on fellow Pakistani while living abroad, isn’t it?

Also, what would the writer think of the Education Emergency campaign so successfully managed by our mutual friend Fasi Zaka? Would he also be bracketed (and me, since I wrote about the subject as well) as a ‘yellow’ journalist?
