Public offices and delays The problem of unnecessary delays in public offices has become a source of frustration for ordinary citizens. People often spend hours waiting for official documents, certificates and essential services that should be provided without needless complications. What should be a simple administrative process frequently becomes a tiring exercise. The consequences of these delays are particularly serious for daily wage workers, who may lose an entire day’s income while waiting for their applications to be processed. Elderly people and those travelling from distant areas face additional difficulties. Repeated visits, unclear procedures and the absence of proper guidance make matters worse and weaken public confidence in government institutions. The government departments must simplify procedures, provide clear instructions and establish effective complaint mechanisms. Applications should be processed within reasonable time limits, while officials responsible for avoidable delays should be held accountable. Better management and transparent systems could save citizens both time and money. Public offices are established to facilitate citizens, not to make them suffer through endless waiting. A person’s time deserves the same respect as the services they have come to receive. Amina Kashani Kech
