Magsi Goth nullah

Letter October 27, 2026
Magsi Goth nullah

KARACHI:

This is to bring attention towards a serious public hazard in Magsi Goth, Malir, Karachi. The road adjacent to the ongoing flyover construction site is flanked by an open nullah on both sides, completely lacking proper protective barriers. In several sections, the only separation between the traffic and the deep drain is a few scattered concrete blocks, broken stones and dry tree branches. Because the road surface is dusty, uneven and poorly maintained, motorcycles, rickshaws and pedestrians are at constant risk of skidding directly into the filthy water.
This is not a hypothetical danger. Tragically, a child has already lost their life after falling into this nullah, yet no safety measures have been implemented since the incident. The accumulation of construction debris, sewage and garbage around the site further exacerbates the hazard and restricts safe movement.
The relevant authorities must take immediate action before another family suffers an irreplaceable loss. They must install robust safety barriers along both sides of the nullah; set up clear warning signs and nighttime reflectors; clear the accumulated waste; and repair the damaged road surface without waiting for the flyover project’s completion.
