KARACHI:
I’ve spent a lot of time lately just wondering how much AI is actually going to change our lives. It is really kind of stressful. Every time I am scrolling through my feed or just hanging out with my friends, someone always brings up how AI like ChatGPT or some new bot is going to take over all our jobs. It is pretty scary when you are 19 years’ old trying to figure out what to major in or what career to chase. Then you see an app write a perfect essay or code a whole app in literally five seconds. You just sit there thinking what am I even working hard for?
AI is not some sci-fi villain out to ruin our lives. The real job of AI is just to handle the boring repetitive work that everyone hates anyway. Like data entry or sorting endless spreadsheets. In fact, a piece of software has zero soul. It can copy patterns. AI doesn’t know what it’s like to feel the gut punch of failing a test, the devastation of a breakup, or the simple magic of a night out with friends. True creativity and empathy aren’t programmed — they are born from real, messy life experiences. At the end of the day, machines can generate data, but only humans can generate meaning. It does not understand why those facts matter to people.
Honestly AI probably will not steal your job. A person who actually knows how to use AI as a tool definitely will. Of stressing about the future we just have to learn how to adapt and use AI to our advantage.
