KARACHI:
The heartbreaking case of Laiba Aijaz, a gold-medalist graduate from Islamabad, highlights the devastating consequences of educational fraud. According to reports, she was deceived by a fraudulent education consultant who provided fake admission documents, shattering her dream of pursuing higher studies abroad. Her family had reportedly sold their property to arrange approximately Rs70 lakh for her future. Tragically, the emotional distress led her to take her own life, as per media reports.
This tragedy raises serious concerns about fraudulent educational consultants who exploit students’ dreams and families’ sacrifices. There is an urgent need for stricter regulation, accountability and public awareness. Moreover, students and their families must also verify admission offers directly from respective universities before making payments. No student’s dream should become an opportunity for exploitation, and no family should suffer such a devastating loss because of a fraudulent promise. Needless to mention that the government make an exemplary action.
