Shah Faisal Colony needs attention

Letter October 12, 2026
Shah Faisal Colony needs attention

KARACHI:

The main road in Shah Faisal Colony, Karachi is in a miserable condition. A few weeks ago, the road was dug up to lay a new sewerage pipeline. Although the trenches were subsequently filled, the road has not yet been reconstructed. As a result, the stretch is now covered in thick dust, debris and uneven patches, causing severe inconvenience to commuters, pedestrians and motorists alike.
Adding to the grievance, local shopkeepers and vendors have encroached upon the road and footpaths by placing stalls and pushcarts directly on the thoroughfare. This has drastically narrowed the street, leading to gridlocks and daily traffic jams, especially during peak hours. Consequently, navigating the area has become extremely difficult for residents, school vans and emergency vehicles like ambulances.
The situation warrants urgent action from the KMC, the Town Municipal Administration and the Anti-Encroachment Department. These authorities must remove these illegal encroachments and properly carpet the road as soon as possible to restore normACalcy to the area.
