KARACHI:
District Kech in Balochistan is facing a serious water crisis. The groundwater level has plummeted, creating severe problems for the residents. Due to this crisis, traditional tube wells have gone completely dry, while local dams are also heavily depleted. As a result, people are facing a drastic shortage of clean water, leaving them without a proper water supply for drinking, household use and other daily chores. Farmers are also badly affected because they cannot irrigate their lands properly, which is severely impacting their crops and livelihoods. To address this, the government should build new small dams, repair old tube wells and launch awareness programmes among citizens to prevent water wastage. If immediate action is not taken, the water crisis in Kech will worsen.
